Viktor Valkov

Viktor Valkov was born 1980 in Rousse,Bulgaria.After graduating
"State Academy of Music" in Sofia in the piano class of Prof. Stella
Dimitrova,he moves to Germany where he studies with Prof. Michael Roll in Folkwang >Hochschulle-Essen.He has won a number of preises in International piano competitions such as:

  • International Music Competition "Music and Earth" Sofia 2002-Grand Prix
  • International "Seiler" Piano Competition Sofia 2002-Grand Prix
  • Yamaha Award for bulgarian pianist 2003
  • International Piano Competition "P.Vladigerov" Shoumen,Bulgaria 2003-Third Preis
  • Tunbridge Wells International Young Artists Competition 2004-Second Preis
  • Koeller Osbahr Piano Competition,Duisburg,Germany 2005-Second Preis
  • Albert Roussel International Piano Competition,Sofia,Bulgaria 2006-First Preis

During the last several years he has given a number of concerts in Bulgaria,Macedonia,Greece,Italy,Germany and Japan.In 2002 he is invited to sit in the jury in "17-th Greece National Piano Competition"-Athens,and also to give a recytal there.After that event he becomes a Honorable Member of "Ch.O.N" Organisation,wich is a member of UNESCO.

After a Japanese tour in the end of 2002 he receives a scholarship for the 8-th Hamamatsu Piano Academy.

Viktor Valkov's concert activity in Bulgaria involves most of the
major orchestras and music festivals such as "March Music Days", " Sofia Musical Weeks", "Apollonia", the Plovdiv Chamber Festival and others.

In 2003 his is invited by New Symphony Orchestra and the conductor Rossen Milanov for the performance of Dimitar Nenov's Grande Piano Concerto,and so he becomes the fifth performer of that work,and the only one to play the whole version.

Viktor Valkov performances has been recorded by the Bulgarian National Radio,Bulgarian National Television and the Macedonian Radio and Television.

In the summer of 2006 Valkov takes part in the 'Music Academy of the West" summer school and festival -Santa Barbara ,USA. He is currently studying at the Juilliard School with Jerome Lowenthal.
