In the end of March 2007, the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, the
City of Fayetteville, and the J.W. Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences
will present the first international FULBRIGHT CONCERTO COMPETITION
for pianists.
12 contestants (of all nationalities, ages 18 to 28) will be selected
to perform in the semifinals, consisting of a 40 to 45 minute solo
recital open to the
public. Of these, three
laureates will be selected to compete in the finals: a performance
of a piano concerto with the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. The
prizes will be awarded by the jury, with the inclusion of one
audience vote. Housing and practice facilities will be provided for
all 12 semi finalists for the duration of the competition.
The Fulbright Concerto Competition would not
