COMPETITION

In May of 2011, the Walton Arts Center and the J.W. Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will present the second International FULBRIGHT CONCERTO COMPETITION for pianists.

12 contestants (of all nationalities, ages 16 to 30) will be selected to perform in the semifinals, consisting of a max. 60 minute solo recital open to the public. Of these, three laureates will be selected to compete in the finals: a performance of a piano concerto with the Artosphere Festival Orchestra. The prizes will be awarded by the jury, with the inclusion of one audience vote. Housing and practice facilities will be provided for all 12 semi finalists for the duration of the competition. The 9 semifinalists who do not reach the finals will receive a $350 honorarium. All 12 participants will receive a personal career consultation by an European Artist Manager, Andreas Vierziger of Mark Stephan Buhl Artists Management. To assure fairness and transparency in the competition, the participants will receive feedback about their performance and disclosure about the vote from jury members (upon request).
